Things to come in 2019 (Japan)

Preparation for 2019 starts in  Japan

Its been quite a  while since my last blog, I feel ridiculous as every time I open my laptop to write nothing seems right.

so allot has happened since my last blog and I’ll be writing about all of it in the next few weeks. DJ was in japan during March preparing for the African championships that would be one of the most important competitions for the qualification cycle.

During this time it was really emotional for me because I had to close up our lil coffee shop because I got a new job as a teacher again which ultimately had a better salary to support our lifestyle of travel and ultimately surviving as a newly wed couple, which is going really well actually.

During the month of Japan, DJ was pretty negative all around more than usual when he travels. ( yes he actually hates traveling) this was not due to the harsh Japanese conditions at all this year but the mood and overall ora he has with the coach. As most athletes know the relationship with the coach is extreme important and if there is no trust with your coach you might as well end it now.

This continued throughout the entire month which made this trip especially hard on both of us. Due to the stress of a new job being without him and not being used to the workload of household, coffee shop, events and being a teacher again, I was an emotional wreck, to put it lightly.

Besides Judo the month DJ was away  I had quite an eventful time. One of the most important this was running our startup coffee shop this was very challenging balancing the ours and getting to al my other responsibilities.

Secondly spending some time with my family as I try to be around people as much as possible and avoid being alone too much as this makes me very depressed when DJ is gone such long periods of time. One of the highlights has to be the English Bulldog Rescue walk where all the English Bulldog owners come together for a short eventful walk with our balls of skin and slimy kisses. My mom and her teacup Yorkie also decided to join even though she was carried most of the way.

Lastly starting a new job, I was a teacher before we got married but this ended very soon as my experience was horrifying which I will go more into detail later on due to the extent of the detail of my torment i think it deserves a post of its own.

Getting back from Japan

Being in absolute great shape when he got back he was confident and feeling good about his form and technique. Knowing what was on the line he started to stress quite a bit and it was hard keeping him calm and his head from racing.  All of his preparation and the rest of his journey or even the end of it will be determined at this African Championships and the stress and anxiety was really getting to us both.

Up next ….Journey to Cape Town and the results of the African Championships
